Jump on the local, sustainable and delicious bandwagon by signing up for The Butcher Shop's meat CSA. Every month, the carnivorously inclined folks at the South End eatery source a locally and responsibly-raised animal - January featured a 90 pound pig while February currently features a rose veal. Their skillful butchers break it down on the first weekend of the month during a butchering demonstration, and then send it home with lucky participants. The next two weekends, ready to cook cuts of meat and prepared items (think sausages, terrines, rillettes) are packaged and made available for pickup. A full share costs $190, while a half share will run you $95. March is expected to bring another little piggy to market while spring lamb in slated for April. February's slots are sold out but March and April are still up for grabs - call 617.423.4800 or send an email to rgrant@thebutchershopboston.com to participate.
