Three distinct dining rooms - a below-grade lounge, the ground floor bar and dining room and a balcony level for more formal dining - can accommodate any kind of gathering - from a business lunch or intimate dinner to a festive girls' night out or casual bite after work.

Boasting a menu of moderately priced refined American cuisine, 49 Social serves lunch, dinner and bar menus full of locally-sourced sophisticated - yet approachable - comfort food. The menus are complimented by a variety of inventive craft cocktails in addition to its extensive wine list.

Chef Michael Lishchynsky at 49 Social

As the son of a father in the military, Executive Chef Michael Lishchynsky spent his childhood moving around the United States. As a result, he draws inspiration from his home state of North Carolina as well as the adopted states he's called home. In conjunction with his travels, Lishchynsky's culinary influences have always remained firmly rooted with his family. His mother was a chef at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Pinehurst, NC) and inspired him to cook despite the cautious warnings she gave her son of the industry she knew all too well. The culinary gene, however, was inherent and Lishchynsky was hooked for life.

From his very early years, Lishchynsky recalls helping his mother cook at home after finishing her shifts at the restaurant. He then graduated from his mother's assistant at home to her unofficial assistant at the Pinehurst Resort kitchen. When he was old enough, he joined the team - officially - as a prep cook, faced with the less-than-glamorous task of cutting vegetables and peeling potatoes day-in and day-out. After a long nine months of proving his worth in the kitchen, the Chef at Pinehurst began to personally train him increasing Lishchynsky's insatiable desire for culinary knowledge.

After spending three years at Pinehurst, Lishchynsky attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence where his strong culinary foundation was formally supplemented by proper technique and training. Upon graduation, he headed to New York City and worked for David Burke at his eponymous restaurant, David Burke Townhouse. After a few other stops along the way, he found himself in Boston working at the Charles River Country Club (Newton, MA) followed by the illustrious Four Seasons Hotel (Boston, MA). It was while at the Four Seasons that he was presented with the prospect of becoming the Executive Chef of 49 Social, a new restaurant opening in the historic Downtown Crossing area of Boston. Having honed his craft for years in the kitchens of other chefs, he enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to shape his own menu and kitchen.

The menu at 49 Social encompasses innovative modern American cuisine with global influences. Lishchynsky's learned techniques are largely rooted in traditional French preparation but they incorporate modern twists. The menu includes local product wherever possible to support New England's strong network of sustainable and responsible farmers.

Lishchynsky currently resides in Boston and enjoys exploring the vibrant culinary scene that the city has to offer.
